Before there was 5.1-surround sound music reproduction there was something called monaural or mono. One speaker, one channel of sound being reproduced on a record player, that’s all there was back in the day. Then stereo sound came out in the 1960’s which was a major sound reproduction development. Now we have five and six channels of sound in our family rooms used to listen to music or watch movies. Going back to monaural would be a shock to our collective auditory system.
I use this metaphor of sound reproduction to describe the way many couples today experience sex within their relationship. What is missing is the full range or spectrum of sensual pleasure. For many couples they generally focus on one or maybe two of their senses. Generally these include the sense of vision and sound. As I said earlier the senses are the way that our brain receives information from our experience and then it applies a sexual meaning to this information or it may not, it just depends on the context of the situation. Our brains are the ultimate “sex organ” and the more sensual stimulation it receives the greater the opportunity for sexual pleasure.
What I suggest to couples in order to improve their sexual experience is to take it from a mono experience to 5.1 surround sound sensual feast. The way to enhance the experience is to turn up the volume on all the senses. Usually, most people especially men focus on the visual aspect of sex and that’s all. Not that there is anything wrong with this it’s just limiting. But what if we add some nice relaxing background music to add a little auditory stimulation, along with some nice smelling aromatherapy candles to add the sense of smell to the mix. Candles also do wonders for the visual ambience as opposed to normal lighting. In addition add a little nice tasting glass of wine and a chocolate dipped strawberry and top it off with a nice full body massage to bring more touching to the experience. Now you have a 5.1 sexual experience that is loaded with sensuality. With all the senses operating and the level of pleasure associated with the sexual experience is increased. When sex and sensuality are mix the experience is incredible. Enjoy.
